Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared off the secluded island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger family. There was no corpse, no witnesses, no evidence, but her aged uncle Henrik is convinced that she was murdered by someone from her own deeply dysfunctional Vanger clan. He hires Mikael Blomkvist, a journalist who is recently trapped by a libel conviction, to investigate the case together with Lisbeth Salander, a twenty-four year old punk genius hacker.

The first of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium-trilogy that includes The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has proven to be a page turner for many.
