Singapore’s critically acclaimed film of 2010, Sandcastle has been released on DVD format and Books Kinokuniya was proud to welcome filmmaker Boo Jun Feng for an exclusive bookstore event to promote this release.

Hosted by dynamic radio personality Lin Weidong of 100.3 FM, the event kick started with an introduction of Sandcastle and its achievements at several international film festivals. This was followed by a sharing session with Boo Jun Feng. Relating to the story details of Sandcastle – which incidentally is also the young filmmaker’s first featured film, Boo Jun Feng spoke about how parts of the film were reflections of his personal family experiences. He also shared about his working experiences with the different cast members of the film and how he was lucky to receive funding for this film when a media student in the audience posted him the question relating to sponsorship and funding of the project.

Curious customers in the audience who were already interested in listening to the filmmaker speak on his award-winning local film were further encouraged to purchase the DVD when video clips from the film were shown during the event. The clips which also included behind-the-scenes footage provided a visual treat and helped to further showcase the filmmaker’s working experiences.

With the success and achievements that Boo Jun Feng’s first feature film has already received, Books Kinokuniya certainly looks forward to the prolific young filmmaker’s next film and DVD release.
