POST-EVENT REPORT: SPORTING A BRAND NEW LOOK! - KINOKUNIYA BUGIS JUNCTION STORE

Kinokuniya Bugis Junction Store opened a brand new chapter in its books retailing chronicle on 9th Sep 2010 to the roar of a Japanese lion and the roaring drum beats of Japanese taiko drums.

The official opening ceremony took place in the morning of 9th Sep 2010 (Thursday) amid support and fanfare from invited trade guests and customers alike. It was a very warm and friendly reception and the geniality of the event was apparent from the smiles and continuous banter amongst the guests.

All guests and customers took to the two morning opening performances very well as many found the Japanese lion dance performance (shishimai) refreshing and the Japanese taiko drums performance invigorating. Many were seeing the Japanese lion dance performance for the first time, which was in many ways similar yet different from a traditional Chinese lion dance performance.  The Japanese taiko drums performance was equally captivating as everyone felt very much charged up with the increasing tempo of the drum beats and the positive energy exuded by the taiko drums performers.

The morning's events came to a quick close just before the noon time book buying crowd streamed in.

Storytelling Sessions, Fun Activities for Everyone! and Cosplay
9th to 12th September 2010 (Thursday to Sunday)
In celebration of this joyous occasion at Kinokuniya Bugis Junction Store, a series of fun and entertaining events were also being put together throughout the long weekend just for our customers and their family!

We had the pleasure of hosting several engaging storytellers through the kind support of Berlitz Kids, Penguin Books Singapore and Pansing, who managed to keep our young customers and their parents and guardians happily entertained with various stories well-told and goodie bags to bring home with them.

We also had a multi-talented balloon sculptor-cum-face painter throughout the four-day of festivities to sculpt and give-away balloons at the request of our customers, and paint beautiful motifs on the arm and face of the more flamboyant young minds.

And for the first-time ever, characters from Macross Frontier, K-On! and the like, graced our store over Saturday and Sunday, raring to pose for photos with like-minded customers. The cosplayers also busied themselves by giving out little souvenirs to lucky customers during their short appearance in the store.

What a wonderful weekend that had been. We are certainly looking forward to more exciting events in the pipeline at Kinokuniya Bugis Junction Store. See you there!
