Berkeley Books' new and innovative Story-Gami kit, consisting of a read-and-fold-along DVD guide and origami paper, was featured at this event and we had two selected stories read aloud by a storyteller.

The little ones enjoyed themselves immensely during the hands-on origami-folding session while listening to the stories told concurrently. Each step in the origami-folding relates back to the story and by the time we came to the end of the stories, all the children had with them an origami sailboat and an origami frog that actually leaps!

This new concept of story-gami was not only engaging, but also tremendously fun for the children! We hope that such hands-on fun will encourage the little ones to develop a deeper love for reading.

Our customers - children and adults alike - had their afternoons brightened as they were entertained by the deft balloon sculptor and imaginative face painter at all our three book stores over the long weekend in August.

Some little boys received balloon swords to play knights for a day while some little girls received balloon poodles as their pets for the day! The more adventurous ones got drawings of their favourite cartoon characters or animals on their arms or faces!
