Post-Event Report: Meet-The-Author: Associate Professor Simon Tay of City Of Small Blessings

15th January 2011 (Saturday)
2.00 p.m. – 3.00 p.m.

Kinokuniya Singapore Main Store, Crossroads
With the recent announcement of City Of Small Blessings winning the Singapore Literature Prize for 2010, author and Associate Professor Simon Tay came by Books Kinokuniya on the 15th of January 2011 for a Meet-The-Author session to share with customers more insights on this award-winning book.

Several customers who attended the event especially came to Kinokuniya Singapore Main Store to listen to the author speak. Among them were his former classmate, a former student of his mother as well as a group of students who were interested to meet up with the author after they have read his other books.

While sharing about the book, Simon Tay kept the audience engaged by bringing in examples of Singapore's changing landscapes, which many customers could relate to. During the Question-And-Answer segment, customers in the audience also grabbed the opportunity to find out his inspirations of writing the book, as well as when they can expect a new book from him.

The author's steadiness and poise while speaking to customers managed to keep them interested in listening to him. This has been one of the contribution factors towards the event's success and is certainly one that we can take note of and learn from when hosting events in the future.
